While some of us are naturally more athletic and keen to work out, not all of us are as lucky. Like me, some of you may struggle to meet your fitness goals in one way or another. We have to work a little harder to keep ourselves motivated and that is okay! Here are a few things I’ve learned over time during my fitness journey that have helped me stay motivated.
The first thing that I may have learned the hard way is making sure to take it slow at first. You don’t need to get your entire workout done at once. Breaking it apart throughout your day is just as beneficial as getting it all done in one go.
Another important key to staying consistent in your workouts is setting short-term goals. We all have an overall goal for ourselves when it comes to fitness, but sometimes they can become overwhelming and hard to reach when we don’t see results right away. Setting those short term fitness goals such as exercising three times a week, can make it easier for us to reach our long term goal of losing 30 pounds in 5 months, per se.
Third, find a workout partner! Having a loved one or friend to exercise with can take the dullness out of working out on your own. A trip to the gym can turn into a fun activity with a friend instead of it feeling like a chore. It takes the seriousness out of fitness and turns it into a great way to have fun and bond with a partner.
Now what’s better than having one partner? Having a whole group of people to workout with! Joining a class is a great way to stay motivated. Seeing others have the same goals as you will keep you focused and motivated. Your class peers can also become a group to lean on and push you to keep going. Lucky for you here at Beach Fitness, we offer a variety of classes. Click on our classes tab to learn more about them and how you can get started!
