Hypertension, also commonly known as high blood pressure, stems from lack of daily exercise needed in a day. When someone doesn’t get enough activity throughout their life, their heart has to work twice as hard in order for blood to flow to the heart. It is a condition where the impact of blood against the artery walls is too high for your heart to handle.

Hypertension is defined as a blood pressure above 130/80 and severe over 180/120. Oftentimes, hypertension has no symptoms, so it is hard to look for. However, some symptoms to look for include blurry vision, fainting, heart palpitations and shortness of breath. Over time it can get worse and if not treated right away it can cause more health conditions such as a stroke and heart disease.

In order to avoid hypertension, doctors advise having a healthier diet and reducing salt in your daily meals. You can reduce the amount of sodium you have in your meals by reading your food labels and looking for low sodium versions of the food that you eat or eating fewer processed foods since most of the sodium that is found in foods is added during the processing. Medical professionals also advised to limit alcohol consumption and to quit smoking.

Another tip that they advise is to get a good night’s sleep, and to stick to a sleeping schedule. If you consistently have poor quality sleep, this can contribute to hypertension. The best thing to do is to not go to bed hungry or overstuffed, as well as not being on your phone right before going to sleep, since the phone’s bright light inhibits you from having a good sleep.

The number one thing the doctors advised to keep elevated blood pressure from turning into high blood pressure is to have regular physical activity which can bring your blood pressure down to a safer level. Some examples of aerobic exercises that can help lower your blood pressure include swimming, jogging, walking and even dancing. Another excellent form of exercise is high-intensity interval training. This type of exercise involves training your body in short bursts of alternating intense activity with brief periods of lighter recovery. Reducing blood pressure can also come from strength training. It’s good to include strength training at least three times per week since you’ll burn more fat and you’ll increase your strength which keeps you younger, longer.

Luckily for you, Beach Fitness includes all the training that doctors recommend to follow in order to keep your blood pressure normal.
